Visa Information



    If your primary intent of coming to the United States is to study, then you will need to enter this country on a F-1 student visa. You must obtain this student visa at an American consulate or embassy in your home country.

    English Language School in Orlando can assist you in the process of obtaining a student visa by issuing you a Certificate of Eligibility, or I-20.

    In order to issue you an I-20, you must complete the following steps:

    1. Complete and submit your application and pay the enrollment fees and deposits.

    2. Make a full payment when you receive the invoice and registration confirmation.

    3. Submit proper financial documentation.

      You must submit a bank statement or letter on official bank letterhead indicating a minimum of $2,000 for each month you intend to study in the United States.

      If the bank documentation is not in your name, you must attach this Statement of Financial Suppot form (please note: this file is in PDF format), or a letter from your sponsor. The sponsor form or letter is required to demonstrate that your sponsor is willing to finance your studies, and also that he/she understands the costs and refund policies.

Receiving your I-20

    Once you have submitted your application, made the payment, and submitted the appropriate financial documentation, we will mail your I-20 and official letter of acceptance to you.

    With your I-20, you can make your $100 SEVIS fee payment and make an appointment with the appropriate American embassy or consulate in your country.

    Payment of $100 SEVIS fee As of September 1, 2004, all students intending to enter the United States on an F-1 visa must pay a separate $100 fee to the US Department of Homeland Security.

    This fee must be paid and fully processed before you arrive to the US consulate or embassy in your country for your student visa interview.

    We will send you instructions on how to pay the $100 SEVIS fee.

Transferring your I-20 from other school within the United States

    If you are studying at another American university or English school on a student visa and want to transfer to our school, you should follow the same application procedures as outlined above: 1) complete our online application 2) make a payment and 3) submit proper financial documentation.

    You should also request an I-20 transfer form from us.

    Please note that F-1 students transferring between schools do not have to pay the $100 SEVIS fee.

Health insurance.

    It is a government requirement that all full-time students have health insurance coverage. If you do not have a plan that specifically covers you while you are in the United States, you must purchase a plan recommended by the school.

Application time for international students

    Obtaining the correct documentation during the application process and scheduling an appointment with an overseas American consulate or embassy once you have received your I-20 takes time.

    If you are applying to the English Language School in Orlando from overseas, we recommend that you begin the application process at least 6-8 weeks before the start of your session.

    Complete form I-901 and pay the SEVP/SEVIS fee ( www.fmjfee.com ) read ( SEVP Reporting Fee document on our website) make sure you know where you are planning to stay in the United States before the interview. Have all your financial information in hand.

    • Have the supporting letters sent in the I-20 package with you.
    • Have the receipt for the payment of the I-901 fee (SEVIP Reporting Fee) in hand.
    • Wear appropriate attire.
    • Be confident.
    • Know how to answer the questions they will ask, for example:

      1. Why do you want to study English in the United States?
      2. Can't you study here in (country name)?
      3. How long are you planning on being in the USA?
      4. Where are you going to live? (Be specific)
      5. How are you going to support yourself there? (Note: You are NOT permitted to work in the United States, unless authorized by USCIS)
      6. What are your plans after you learn English?
      7. When are you planning to come back to your country?

      Truthfully demonstrate that you are planning on coming back to your native country, some examples may be:

      • Plans on what you are going to do with the education received in the USA.
      • An employment contract that requires you to came back to work for a given company.
      • Family relations or properties that tie you to your country of origin.

      Know how to answer to these questions and others you know they that may be asked. Be confident and truthful as your respond to all questions.

      • Make sure you have all the documentation needed and more, especially financial information.
      • Smile.
      • Be polite, even if turned down.
